Amazing Turkey Trot raises money for charity

when he sees a list of equipment for The Amazing Turkey Trot, Jill Drysdale knows he's in top races. Participants were instructed to bring backpacks, maps, sunscreen, ice packs, rain gear, camera, duct tape, showshoes and chicken live.

"I was looking all week to live chickens," said Drysdale, 44, from the Wausau. "But I'll be honest, I was relieved to get the email it's a joke.

But the joke is not far from the target. Those who participated in Saturday's second annual charity race 6 miles around Wausau must dance, Bowl, play basketball, discovered outlines of lime and take pictures of themselves with dead fish in addition to running.

"it started out as just a run. I was talking with a friend, and we thought it would be nice to have the November run on and call it ' the Turkey trot. Then we thought it would be fun to run with Turkey. Then we thought it would be nice to Turkey Bowl, and it's just spinning from there, "said race organiser Mark Hall.
